We are asked for a list of spots more often than almost anything else. We tend not to publish the specific ones, partly because a proposal spot stops working the moment it is on the internet, and partly because the right answer depends entirely on the couple. What follows is more useful: the five kinds of setting we return to, and who each one suits.
A west-facing beach, an hour before sunset
The most reliable option, and the least complicated. Light does most of the work. The trick is choosing a beach that empties rather than fills at that hour, which is local knowledge rather than something you can check online.
A cove reached only by boat
For couples who want genuine privacy. Nobody arrives unexpectedly because nobody can. It requires more planning and a weather contingency, but it is the closest thing to a guarantee that you will be alone.
A headland above the water
Higher ground, long views down the coast, and a sense of occasion that a beach does not quite have. Best in the hour after sunrise, when the light is soft and there is nobody about at all.
A terrace, at the end of dinner
Understated, and right for couples who would find a staged setup excruciating. Everything looks like an ordinary evening until it is not.
On the water at golden hour
A boat, the coastline going gold behind you, and a crew who know exactly when to disappear. The most cinematic of the five, and the one that photographs best — worth considering if you want the images as much as the moment.
Whichever appeals, the planning underneath is the same: check who else will be there at that hour, brief the photographer properly, and have a quiet plan for weather. That is the part we handle.
